The client, responsible for managing multiple cell tower sites, faced significant challenges during power outages. Manually sending personnel to each site to switch to generator power was a time-consuming and inefficient process, especially when dealing with a large number of sites simultaneously.
In collaboration with Watt Incorporate, an IoT devices company, we developed a comprehensive solution to address this issue. Watt Incorporate designed custom hardware to facilitate power supply switching, while we developed a mobile app and backend infrastructure to enable remote control and monitoring. The Flutter-based app, featuring secure login for operators, provided real-time visibility into assigned sites and allowed for seamless power supply management through a user-friendly interface.
The Remote Cell Tower Control App revolutionized the client's operations by enabling efficient and centralized management of cell tower sites. Through the app, operators could monitor site status in real-time and promptly respond to power outages by remotely switching to generator power with a few taps. The solution's web socket-based networking and Python Django backend hosted on AWS ensured reliable and secure communication between the app and custom hardware. This innovative approach eliminated the need for on-site personnel, resulting in significant cost savings and improved operational efficiency for the client.
